Data validation is the process of ensuring that the data recorded in the database is accurate, consistent and meets the necessary standards before it is stored. This helps prevent errors, maintain data integrity and improve the reliability of database applications.

Types of validation rules in MS access

1. Field-Level Validation Rules:

These are used in individual fields (columns) in a table, which limits the type of data that can be recorded. Examples include:

-Required: Force the area to a value (no space).

-Verification rules: Specifically specify terms, such as limiting the values ​​between 18 and 65 (> = 18 and <= 65).

-Verification text: A customized error message appears when the confirmation rule is broken.

2. Record-Level Validation Rules:

These apply to the entire item, and ensure that the combination of fields in the same line meets specific criteria. For example:

-A rule of record level may be that the last date is always after the start date ([enddate]> [start date]).

3. Input mask:

Check the data registration format, ensure continuity. For example:

-To use a specific format, a telephone number field may have an input mask as an entrance mask (999) 000-0000.

4. Data type and field properties:

-Data type: Limits the type of data (eg text, number, date).

-Field size: Set maximum size for lesson or number field (eg a text box limited to 50 characters).

5. Lookup and relationship integrity:

डाटा भ्यालिडेसन भनेको डाटाबेसमा डाटा भण्डारण गर्नु अघि, त्यसको सटीकता, निरन्तरता, र आवश्यक मापदण्ड पूरा भएको सुनिश्चित गर्ने प्रक्रिया हो। यसले त्रुटिहरू रोक्छ, डाटा इंटेग्रिटी  कायम राख्छ र डाटाबेस अनुप्रयोगहरूको विश्वसनीयता सुधार गर्छ।

MS Access मा डाटा भ्यालिडेसनका प्रकारहरू:

1. फिल्ड-स्तर भ्यालिडेसन नियमहरू (Field-Level Validation Rules):
   यी नियमहरू विशेष फिल्ड (कोलम) मा लागू गरिन्छन्, जसले निश्चित प्रकारको डाटा मात्र राख्न अनुमति दिन्छ।
   • Required (आवश्यक): फिल्ड खाली नराख्न बाध्य पार्छ।
   • Validation Rule (भ्यालिडेसन नियम): निश्चित सर्तहरू तोक्छ, जस्तै उमेर फिल्डलाई १८ देखि ६५ को बीचमा सीमित राख्नु (>=18 AND <=65)।
